Asthakind DX Sugar-free syrup 100 ml belongs to a class of medicines called "cough and flu preparations", which are mainly used to treat dry cough. A cough is the body's way of removing irritants such as allergens, mucus or smoke from the respiratory tract and preventing infections. There are two types of cough namely: dry cough and chesty cough. A dry cough is itchy and does not produce gross or thick mucus, while a dry cough produces mucus or sputum.
Chlorpheniramine maleate, Phenylephrine, and Dextromethorphan hydrobromide are all ingredients in Asthakind DX Sugar Free Syrup 100 ml. Chlorpheniramine maleate works by inhibiting the action of histamine, a substance that causes allergic reactions. Phenylephrine helps to shrink the blood vessels in the nasal passage, reducing stuffiness. Dextromethorphan hydrobromide works by preventing nerve signals from travelling from the cough centre in the brain to the muscles that cause coughing. Asthakind DX Sugar Free Syrup 100 ml, taken together, provides relief from dry cough.

How it works-
Asthakind DX Sugar-free syrup 100 ml relieves allergy and flu symptoms where chlorpheniramine binds to the histamine H1 receptor and blocks its action, resulting in temporary relief of negative symptoms (runny nose, sneezing, watery and itchy eyes) caused by histamine and dextromethorphan. suppresses the unproductive cough associated with the common cold by suppressing the cough reflex directly affecting the cough center of the brain, and phenylephrine reduces nasal congestion by acting on α1-adrenergic receptors in the small blood vessels of the nasal mucosa, causing constriction which reduces swelling and increases nasal drainage.
