Augmentin DDS syrup 30 ml is an antibiotic in the penicillin antibiotic class. It is usually prescribed to prevent middle ear and sinus infections, throat or lung respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, skin infections, soft tissue infections, teeth and joint and bone infections.

Augmentin DDS syrup 30 ml consists of two drugs: amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxicillin destroys the outer protein layer and thus kills bacteria. Clavulanic acid inhibits the beta-lactamase enzyme, which prevents bacteria from destroying the effectiveness of amoxicillin. As a result, the action of clavulanic acid allows amoxicillin to work better and kill bacteria. Augmentin DDS syrup 30 ml is ineffective against infections caused by viruses, including colds and flu.

How it works-

Augmentin DDS syrup 30 ml helps to treat a bacterial infection in which amoxicillin is a penicillin that inhibits enzymes that help synthesize the solid structural part of the bacterial cell wall, while clavulanic acid is a beta-lactam (structurally similar to penicillin). which works by inactivating an enzyme, namely beta-lactamase, which prevents the inactivation of amoxicillin.
