- Details
- Benefits
- Side effects
Graniforce Syrup is an 'anti-emetic' medicine, which is primarily used to treat nausea and vomiting induced by medical therapies such as chemotherapy or radiation treatment for cancer, among others. Nausea is characterized as stomach discomfort and a strong want to vomit. Vomiting is the forced voluntary or involuntary expulsion of the stomach contents through the mouth.
Usage instructions-
- The dose and duration of Graniforce Syrup should be taken as directed by your doctor.
How it works-
Graniforce Syrup works by blocking a receptor known as 5-HT3 receptors, which are found in both the brain and the gastrointestinal system. This suppression of 5-HT3 receptors decreases the activation of the vomiting centre, hence avoiding nausea and vomiting.
Safety information-
Pregnancy
Graniforce Syrup is safe to use in pregnancy. Studies in animals have shown minimal or no adverse effects on the developing baby. However, limited human studies are available.
Breastfeeding
Graniforce Syrup is probably safe to breastfeed. There is limited human data to suggest that the drug poses no risk to the baby.
Alcohol
It is not known whether it is safe or not to take alcohol with Graniforce Syrup.
Driving

Kidney
Graniforce Syrup is probably safe for use in people with kidney disease. Due to limited data available, dose adjustments may not be necessary in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
Graniforce Syrup is probably safe for use in people with liver impairment. Due to limited data available, dose adjustments may not be necessary in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor.
Graniforce Syrup includes 'Granisetron,' an anti-emetic medicine that cures nausea and vomiting induced by cancer treatment (chemotherapy or radiation therapy) or after surgery, among other things. Granisetron is a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist (also known as a serotonin receptor antagonist or a serotonin blocker). When the cells lining the gastrointestinal system are destroyed by chemotherapy or radiation therapy, a natural chemical known as serotonin (5HT3, 5-hydroxytryptamine) is released. This serotonin attaches to nerve serotonin receptors, causing nausea and vomiting. Graniforce Syrup works by inhibiting serotonin activity in the brain and reducing post-operative nausea and vomiting.
