Angina pectoris is a painful chest condition that develops when the heart and its muscles are not receiving enough oxygen and blood due to coronary artery disease (CAD). Another reason for it to occur is a blockage in the heart's arteries. It is used as an addition to existing treatment in patients whose disease is not adequately controlled by other medications for angina pectoris, such as beta-blockers or calcium antagonists, or in patients who cannot take these medications. It helps to prevent any attacks of angina by making the heart work more efficiently.
