Yogamet GMP 1 Tablet ER belongs to the class of drugs known as 'anti-diabetic agents,' which are used to treat Type 2 diabetes mellitus. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a long-term disorder in which blood sugar or glucose levels grow above normal. It happens when the body does not create enough insulin (which metabolizes glucose) or when the insulin produced is ineffective in the body.

How it works-

Yogamet GMP 1 Tablet ER is a medication that combines three diabetes medications: Glimepiride, Metformin, and Pioglitazone. When a single or dual therapy is unsuccessful, they work via a variety of mechanisms to enhance blood sugar management. A sulfonylurea called Glimepiride reduces blood sugar by increasing the amount of insulin the pancreas produces. The biguanide class of drugs includes Metformin. It functions by lessening the liver's production of glucose, reducing the rate at which glucose is absorbed from the intestines, and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin. A thiazolidinedione called Pioglitazone increases insulin sensitivity.

Safety information-

Pregnancy

Yogamet GMP 1 Tablet ER is probably unsafe to use in pregnancy. There are limited human studies, but animal studies have shown adverse effects on the developing baby. Consult your doctor.

Breastfeeding

It is probably not safe to breastfeed while taking Yogamet GMP 1 Tablet ER. There is limited human data suggesting that the drug may enter breast milk and cause harm to the baby.

Alcohol

It is unsafe to take alcohol with Yogamet GMP 1 Tablet ER.

Driving

If you have too high or too low blood sugar, it could affect your ability to drive. If you experience these symptoms, don't drive.

Kidney

Yogamet GMP 1 Tablet ER should be taken with caution in people with kidney disease.  Yogamet GMP 1 Tablet ER dosage adjustments may be required. Please consult your doctor.

Liver
