It is used to treat uncomplicated gonorrhoea (a sexually transmitted infection), pyelonephritis (inflammation of the kidney due to bacterial infection), mild to moderate lower respiratory tract infections (bronchitis), severe lower respiratory tract infections (pneumonia), and Lyme disease (caused by the bite of an infected black-legged tick insect) in adults and children over the age of 12.
